I can't imagine there is any merit in this argument. Well, developers and MS have not been particularly good at eliminating other forms of cheating either, yet we still don't allow those. The opposing argument seems to be that the developers or MS created the glitch and there's no reason not to use it if it's there. So are we really ready to say that the only reason game saves is wrong is that it isn't easy for everyone to do it? That sounds ridiculous. In both cases, you are skipping the requirements of an achievement by tricking the game into thinking that you actually did it. The ONLY difference between the two that I can identify is that using game saves requires installing a program on your computer and a flash drive. I question, very honestly, how this is any different than using a game save (something that is clearly banned). You are tricking it into thinking you did something that you didn't due to the way that the game tracks achievements and determines when to unlock them. As per the definitions above, using this glitch is clearly defrauding the achievement system. I'm not arguing that anyone should be punished. Keep in mind that just because something is cheating does not mean it should be something that is a bannable offense or something like that. This is abstract, but I think it illustrates the difference adequately. I'd imagine in the future we will be able to level up to level 10 five times instead leveling up to level 50 (in a game that doesn't store your data on a server but rather in your save). I'll be the first to admit this is a glitch, but it is no longer a glitch with the game but rather with the achievement system as a whole (Trials Fusion 360/PS4 does not have this glitch). Historically, glitches were somewhat accepted as being "legitimate" by the achievement community. Doing so will not reset your achievement counter, making it possible to "complete" all 180 challenges in Peggle by completing the first 30 six times, for instance. In both cases, you are able to delete your save data to reset all the challenges in the game. Two prime examples are Peggle 2 challenges and Trials Fusion challenges. Not all games do this, even if they do track the objectives for you (Ryse doesn't have this issue, for instance).
